Homeowners have a lot of choices and options when it comes to finding ways to make their garage door different from everyone else’s in the neighborhood. We will walk you through some things to consider– whether it’s making changes to your existing garage door, you’re ready to replace it, or you’re building a new home.
Choose A New Color
A lot of homeowners are interested in the variety of colors that our garage doors come in. Twenty years ago, a majority of garage doors were either white or beige. Luckily technology and style have progressed and have allowed us to offer many new color options for your garage door. You can choose from a wood look without the upkeep of a traditional wood door, or choose from colors including tan, sandstone, gray, green and even black. Take into consideration the color and style of your front entry door. We find that many of our customers like to match the color and style of their front door. Consider other colors you’ve used on the exterior of your home—whether it’s your trim color or accent colors you’ve used in other places. Looking at these features is a great starting point to help you decide what will best compliment the overall look of your home.
Add Windows Or Change Your Window Inserts
If you haven’t had windows in your garage door, you’d be surprised what a difference it can make! Not only does it change the overall appearance to your home’s exterior, it’s also nice to allow light in your garage for practical purposes such as being able to see when you walk from your vehicle to the house and minimizing the use of other lights. If you use your garage space for other things than parking your car, letting in natural light is sensible.
If you already have windows in your existing garage door, you may be able to change the overall look by swapping out window inserts which are available in a lot of different patterns. You don’t have to purchase new windows for your garage door—just change the inserts which is economical and easy to do. Add Or Change Lighting
In the past, most homes had one outdoor flood light—and maybe some sconces by the doorway if you were fancy. But now, lighting options span a huge range of choices, from traditional lanterns and ceiling lights all the way to outdoor LED strip lights and recessed spotlights. Homeowners are getting a lot more creative in using lighting as a decorative accent in exterior spaces.
